Brandon Sundstrom is one of many people who have come to love fishing on Little Bay de Noc. He originally grew up in the Rapid River area and has been fishing the Bay for several years. Despite living in Marquette, you can find Sundstrom on the ice of the Little Bay every weekend. Sundstrom reeled in his most recent catches south of Gladstone fishing with mostly tipups with pike suckers while targeting break lines and drop-offs with flats nearby. Getting around by snowmobile he fished anywhere between 22-25ft. and had action up until it was dark. “The jigging bite was pretty slow, but this is the time of the year that people have really good luck getting a trophy-sized fish,” said Sundstrom. Brandon has no other plans besides spending time with friends and fishing up until the last day of the Walleye Season. “Still plenty of time to get a good bite on Little Bay de Noc” says Sundstrom.

Jon over at Bayshore Bait and Tackle had a busy weekend over at Kipling as people rushed to get out on the ice during prime time. According to Jon, this is when Walleye start making their way back to the rivers to spawn and a great time to catch that monster.

Ice Conditions from Jon at Bayshore Bait & Tackle:
-Truck broke through by Hunters point Friday
-Mouth of the Whitefish is getting soft
-Fishing Center reef has been good for walleye

According to Jon, Tipups have been outproducing jigging lately. He suggests fishing with 4-7inch suckers 3-5ft off the bottom.

Jon suggestions for Lures:
-Wonderbread, joesglo and Carbon 14 Shiver Minnows.
-Tungsten jigs and Perch rigs for Perch.
-Swedish Pimple tipped with a wiggler or minnow head for perch.
